A Letter to Whisper Lake Property Owners

Dear Whisper Lake Property Owner,

My name is Jay Roman, and I’m running for President of the Whisper Lake POA.

Whisper Lake is a special place. Whether it’s your home, retreat, or long-term investment, it deserves thoughtful, transparent, and steady leadership.

I’m running because I care deeply about where we live. That starts with clear communication and decisions that reflect the voices of everyone who calls this place home. If elected, I’ll work to ensure board meetings are open to members, recorded, and followed by timely, detailed minutes. You shouldn’t have to rely on word of mouth to stay informed.

Just as important as transparency is listening. Whisper Lake is full of thoughtful members whose input should help shape our future. My approach is simple: listen well, plan carefully, and work with the people who know this community best.

We also need to think beyond the day-to-day. A few months ago, the board introduced the idea of long-term planning through something called Project 2030. While the concept showed potential, it hasn’t been revisited since. I believe we can build on that foundation with a Strategic Planning Committee, made up of committee members and interested residents, focused on practical needs and long-term goals. Planning should be consistent and tied to outcomes, with a structure that helps good ideas take root and grow over time.

The lakefront project and the recent reversal of watercraft fees, along with the decision to allow unlimited watercraft per lot, highlight how important it is to engage the community early, communicate clearly, and respect the time and trust residents invest. We can, and should, do better.

Through the Communications Committee, I’ve helped make the newsletter more timely and actually worth reading. It’s not a big thing, but it’s the kind of practical, behind-the-scenes work I care about. And since I live here full-time, I bring a little “boots on the ground” perspective—minus the military jargon.

Voting takes place at the Annual Meeting on Wednesday, June 25. If you can’t attend, please submit your proxy form so your vote is counted.

Thank you for your time. I’d be honored to earn your vote, and even more honored to serve.

With appreciation,
Jay
